Huge! Padmaavat becomes the second film after Baahubali 2 to cross the $3 million mark in Australia

Magnum opus Padmaavat starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles is leaving no stones unturned to create history. The film has not just performed extremely well in the domestic markets but internationally as well. The period drama has now officially become the second film after Baahubali 2 to cross the $3 million mark at the Australian box-office.

The latest figures were shared by a popular trade analyst on his twitter handle as he wrote, “After #Baahubali2 (All Versions) – A$ 3,350,372 – #Padmaavat becomes the 2nd Indian Movie to join the A$3 Million Club! A$ 3,092,553@deepikapadukone@Ranv eerOfficial @shahidkapoor”

As far as the domestic figures are concerned, the film has already minted massive Rs 275 crore at the box-office and will soon be touching 300 crore mark as well. On playing a negative character like Khilji in the film, Singh told Filmfare, “I understood that it was a risky part. Honestly, playing the bisexual, evil antagonist in such a significant film was a huge risk and it could have been my undoing. But I made the decision and today I am very happy that I did. It’s been a process of growth and evolution for me, and it taught me a lot about myself.”

He further added, “I have taken every decision with honesty. If I have to speak in third person and I’ll judge from Ranveer’s moral compass I don’t think he (Khilji) is a good person, he is a quite bad and evil person. When I played Alauddin I have given him my space and I am functioning now as Allauddin. Let’s say for in a very literal way I’ve just come out from the make-up room and I am wearing everything and I am fucking Alauddin at that time. At that time I am 100% convinced that everything that I am doing is right.”

Helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Padmaavat co-starred Sanjay Jim Sarbh, Aditi Rao Hydari, Raza Murad and Anupriya Goenka in pivotal roles.
