The female lead for Sushant Singh Rajput’s Chanda Mama Door Ke is still not finalized. Initially it was being speculated that actress Aisha Sharma has been roped in to play the lead opposite Sushant but the makers denied the news. “There is no truth to the report. The casting for the film is still underway and an official announcement will be made soon.”
There were also reports of Fatima Sana Shaikh will be playing the female lead. A source was quoted thus to a leading daily, “The makers of Chanda Mama Door Ke have been hunting for a leading lady, and they’re keen on casting Fatima for this film. Right now, nothing is on paper, so one can’t confirm anything about this.”
The latest reports were about Shraddha Kapoor being cast for the role but the actress has denied she’s been approached. “That’s not true. I haven’t even been offered the film. There’s no point talking about doing or not doing it,” she revealed to a leading daily.
Earlier, a source was thus quoted by a tabloid, “The female lead had to be someone who is willing to take a risk. The film requires the actress to transform physically — she has to sport short hair. This was proving to be a deterrent for most actresses, who auditioned for the part since they wouldn’t be able to do any other film at the same time. With Haseena Parkar, Shraddha has made it clear that she is up for experimental roles. She doesn’t have any inhibitions about chopping her hair for the film and is excited about the challenge.”
