As the summer winds billow, French Connection is here to evoke the spirit of the warmer season with its Spring Summer ’18 collection.
Transitioning from the glimmer and shimmer of the French Connection Holiday’17 collection to the effortlessly chic take on the fresh designs, the Spring Summer’18 collection encapsulates the sense of fun and celebrates the deeper hues of the season like never before.
The Campaign: French Connection’s Spring Summer ’18 campaign was shot by Hart and Leshkina, a New York based photography duo who reign from an artistic background. Famous for their practice of marrying art and fashion, the duo lend their signature eye and dual perspective to create imagery that captures raw, almost ethereal escapism. Movement and humour are themes that run strongly throughout, capturing the essence of French Connection’s personality and the playful mood of the Spring Summer season. Shot entirely on medium format film, the result is a soft-grain aesthetic and true to life coloration in every image. The simplistic backdrop of the imagery acts as the perfect antidote to a collection that is far from minimal.
Introducing #FashLiesure: For those with discerning taste, French Connection introduces a #FashLiesure line for both men and women. This new range boasts of easy fabrics and distinct styles for anyone seeking to complement their fashion with comfort. No matter what the day throws at you, this new fashion genre will definitely bring your A-game on!
Menswear: This season embraces classic and contemporary prints in many ways throughout the collection; be it checkered shirts, polka dots or solid colored polos to the iconic one-liner tees and the spiffy Indigo patchwork denim shirts. These easy to style pieces truly translate that sophistication lies in simplicity. Some of the key inspiration apart from prints and checks include French statement making slogans and quirky play on words to add the right amount of fun to your wardrobe.
Womenswear: Femininity meets modernity, with playful peek-a-boo sheer dresses, flowy summer dresses and much more. This season mix and match the contemporary prints; ditsy dark florals, water-coloured blooms, ocular stripes with quirky tees and denims; all bathed in summer colors. Each piece brings an unexpected strong feminine touch to a contemporary silhouette.
The Color Palate: With a colour palette of summer, shades of bordeaux reds & oxide yellows stand out as the kick-off colours for the season, moving through to tonal inky blues and pops of water-colour blues hues as the months warm up. Summer white and pastel coral take a new approach to occasion wear mid-season, while buttercup yellow, greys and mustard dominate high summer.
