The Collection Inspiration
Welcome to Wild Earth. An elevated classical Japanese Rock Garden. Colours are intensified, senses are heightened, and a sense of harmony swims through the garden, balanced with bursts of energy and clashes of colour. Manish calls it #orangeisthenewzen, where flourishes of dynamic colour bring to life the collection. Literally. From the conflicting patterns and textures, to the movement of patterns inspired by the symbolic Koi Carp. Manish has captured nature dancing and celebrating across his collection, marrying all of natures most wanted elements.
The Nail Inspiration
This season sees an incredibly exciting partnership between Manish, Swarovski and CND, who have collaborated to create an exciting statement on the runway that easily translates into wearable art in the extraordinary and magical world of Manish Arora! Swarovski crystal Pixie and many other crystals of different shapes and colors adorned the extravagant nail designs.
Swarovski crystals played a key part in the drama of Manish’s collection, where crystals are included both on the clothes and on the nails, creating underwater-like-bubbles. And the magic does not stop there, each model has an accent of bespoke hand-painted feathers on their index fingers paying homage to the Buddhist teaching love.
‘This season is all about creating movement in the nail art. The finest detail in the nail is so integral to telling the story of Manish’s collection and inspiration of this Asian ethereal garden. As #orangeisthenewzen is the key message for Manish’s collection, Vinylux ‘Mambo Beat’ has been used in the statement-making designs for the runway’ – CND Ambassador, Marian Newman
Shelena Robinson, the show’s CND lead artist, and her talented army of CND Nail Artists have created nails that, when in unison, create a moving picture. The nails were hand painted with animated Koi fish, to complement the hand-painted wooden shoes . Each finger is a unique work of art, as the decorative Koi fish are painted in a different position on each nail, to mimic as if it were swimming across all ten nails. The final nod to the collection is the architecture, where the nails shaped like ‘ballet slippers’, mimic the cut of the shoe and patterns within the collection.
‘Nails play an important part in telling the story of this collection. I am thankful for my partnership with Jan and the CND Design Team, who have been able to bring my inspiration to life through unrivalled nail creativity and artistry.’ – Manish Arora, Designer
